The Geisha with the Green Eyes by India Millar

The Geisha with the Green Eyes

The Geisha with the Green Eyes

This book at the start at least made me think of Memoirs of a Geisha By Arthur Golden because of the girl with the weird color eyes being green and not the normal brown but as I read it became its own book. Some nitpicks I have with it are the terms Geisha and Prostitute seem to mean the same thing. Were that is wrong Geisha were women who were known for their art in dance, Music, and conversation. And well Prostitute wound be for sex. But over that large problem I had with the book I liked it. I like the fact that the charters had flaws that most wound have been in the streets or worse at the time. So they were Lucky to be living in this place even if they were slaves to be sold for sex.
As Midori No Me virginity was sold at thirteen to start her life as Geisha. And as she see the floating world and grows within it.   She finds that everything she is told about the world outside the hidden house is not true and finds herself in love with both the kabuki theater and the lead actor there keep calling for her to come and make love to him. But not everything is happiness for her she has other men to please and is still hoping that one day her mother and father will come back for her.

It a story of a girl finding herself, growing as a women and finding love. In places it is hard to read more for the fact that she is young but think of the time it is based in. It the same with how the women were treated in the book it is a time piece not all time was good to women. But overall the book was good and if you like books like Memoirs of a Geisha  then give it a try. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
